Material Worlds – A Journey Through Our Materials

Whether wood, glass, concrete, silicon, or rubber – we encounter materials every day, and they tell stories of resources, craftsmanship, technology, and society.

The permanent exhibition Material Worlds at the Vienna Technical Museum shows visitors numerous aspects of the past, present, and future of our materials.

Covering an area of around 3,000 m², the exhibition presents 13 themed islands, a machine wall, and a new visitor platform, a steel structure with an elevator. Traditional knowledge, modern research (including in the field of construction, such as the gradient concrete ceiling from the Technical University of Stuttgart, which was specially made for the exhibition), and innovative processes with an increasing focus on sustainability are on display.

MO architektur was responsible for the renovation of the listed exhibition space, the coordination of the execution, and the construction management of the new permanent exhibition.
